A collision between a tanker and cargo ship in the North Sea off the coast of Yorkshire, England, resulted in at least 32 injuries, fires, and a kerosene leak. Searches for a missing crew member from the cargo ship have been called off. The cargo ship was carrying a quantity of alcohol and fifteen containers of sodium cyanide and the tanker was temporarily chartered by the US military. Greenpeace expressed concern over toxic risks, and pollution control measures are being assessed.
